The Clinic
Chiropractic@BuckFarm was established following the renovation of an old Dairy in 2023. The result is a wonderfully light and airy space that has retained much of its original character. It is both warm and welcoming, as well as a practical and well-designed space for the delivery of healthcare, with ample parking.

Whilst being in a rural location, we are situated just 1/3 of a mile off the A417, providing excellent access from a large number of surrounding towns and villages in North Gloucestershire, South Worcestershire and even Herefordshire. All within 10 miles are: Apperley, Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham, Churchdown, Gloucester, Hartpury, Highnam, Huntly, Ledbury, Maisemore, Mitchledean, Newent, Quedgeley, Staunton, Tewkesbury, Twyning, and Upton upon Severn.
About Stuart Smellie
Whilst playing rugby as a schoolboy, Stuart injured his lower back, resulting in major spinal surgery at the age of 16. This sparked a lifelong interest in healthcare, and the management of back pain in particular. He qualified with a degree in chiropractic in 1991, and has been in clinical practice for the last 32 years. His career started in Wiltshire, where he set-up his first clinic in Malmesbury. In 1998, he and a colleague established Skelian Chiropractic Clinics, which grew to become a group of 7 chiropractic clinics across the Midlands and South West. Stuart led the clinics in winning multiple awards in which they were recognised for providing excellence in clinical governance, and in meeting patient expectations.
In addition to clinical practice, Stuart has also been involved in chiropractic postgraduate education and professional leadership roles for most of his career. He has been the Director of Academic Affairs for the Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC) since 2010, dedicated to improving the quality of care in the profession, and as the lead author of the RCC Quality Standards. Stuart has a track record of collaborating with regulators and educators, and is Chair of the UK Forum of Chiropractic Deans. He has recently finished two long-standing roles for the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) having sat on the Professional Conduct Committee for 10 years, and been a Chair of the Test of Competence Assessment Panel. He has subsequently been appointed as both a GCC Registration Assessor and a Fitness to Practice Clinical Assessor. Stuart has been an External Examiner, sat on validating committees, and taught at a number of UK universities. For over 20 years he has lectured at national and international conferences, on a variety of subjects including high quality evidence-based care and advanced clinical prctice. Stuart is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Chiropractors and the European Academy of Chiropractic, and is a Member of the RCC Pain Faculty. He is registered with the GCC and a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA), who have twice awarded him ‘Chiropractor of the Year’. Stuart is most passionate about treating patients and supporting them to live healthy and active lives. Having practiced in Cheltenham for the last 25 years, the move to Chiropractic@BuckFarm enables him to do this in the community where he has lived, played cricket and cycled (intermittently) for the last 25 years. Stuart and his wife, who is a local GP, have 3 children who have now left the nest.
